After 60 miles yesterday I looked down to see that my Giant SCR's squeaking seatpost was down to an almighty crack just below the seat insertion, leaving the joint wobbling. I was thanking the Good Lord that it held up on the 40mph descents. (Valentine's day is a particularly bad time to land on your top tube.) Just took it into Edinburgh Cycles as the frame is under warranty, the chap there said he's never seen frames crack like that before. My seatpost was set well within the limits too. The shop will contact Giant over a replacement frame. Has anyone had any experience of this sort of thing? How are manufacturers at honouring the warranty?

You should be OK, although it can take a bit of time.

I was quite lucky with my Kinesis when I discovered a crack. Frame was replaced within a week. Sounds like you shouldn't have any trouble getting it replaced, but like fossyant says, it could take a bit of time.

IIRC frames are 'normally' covered for 5 years...i had my Bianchi frame replaced no problem after 3 years plus.
Beware tho, cos i didnt think of this when mine went...the LBS will charge for rebuilding if you want them to do it.
I took a box of bits home and did it myself when i realised.
