I have a little iPod shuffle, built in crocodile clip type attachment, weight nowt and no LCD screen to go to the wall if you drop it.... that said I havent really been using it of late as I have been taking in my surroundings more.

I wouldn't buy an Ipod, Have a look at the other MP3's The "I" range require you to buy attachments for the radio reciever, extra memory, The ZEn stone plus for instance has 2 gigs ,a built in reciever and some decent EQ and shuffle options, is very small, has a clip on and a rubber outer skin for added protection.

Have a look around at other options before you buy.

Im thinking about getting one of these for xmas. I have an old nano , but the battery life is now bad, and it doesnt hold that many songs.
The one with wifi temps me(16gb?), but it might be the one without(8gb?)

I used to have a 30g pod but its died now, it was ok but i use a shuffle now and its much better except sometimes if its knocked or pull it falls off you clothes and into the wheel, so you do need to be careful, i'd get the cheap and cheerful 1g shuffle £24 on amazon and then update the playlist more often at home, rather than scrolling at the lights!

I guy I used to ride with wore an mp3 player most of the time, I've never used one as I'd rather hear what's going on around me right now than what happened in a recording studio ten years ago.

Anyway, one day his mp3 player packs in. When he opened it up it was all corroded and gunked up inside. Turned out his sweat had killed it!

Just a warning. If you do wear one don't place it to close to your sweaty body without protection.

I have a classic and a Shuffle. I do not normally use either for cycling (but am not anti) but the Shuffle is ideal for exercise (I use it for running). Weighs a tiny amount, very tough, and not so pricey that it would be a disaster if lost.

I would go for the Shuffle. I would add clip over ear headphones though

i have a nano.. you have a bit more control over playlists than the shuffle, which as far as i can tell only plays the songs in random order. and its not as bulky as the big one, nice and slim
