I've a compact Bianchi with 12-25 cassette, recently bought a Carbon Ribble Stealth 53/39 with an 11-28 cassette, I'm havin bother with the Ribble set-up & cannot get used to it at all. I bought good wheels for the Ribble, could I just lift my new good wheels with the cassette and put on the Alu Bianchi? Think it's an Ultegra short cage rear derailleur on the Bianchi - it certainly doesn't look any bigger than the Ribble one.

Would they be interchangeable on a regular basis or are there adjustments to be made every time?? (Mountainy sportives on the horizon - and the bigger gears on the Ribble would be tough.

Thanks

Might need a minor tweak at the rear mech adjuster, but should work ok - assuming they're both 10-speed.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I tried wheel-swapping on my old rim-braked MTB (one pair shod with knobbly tyres, the other with slicks) and discovered that the 2 sets of rims were not quite identical so I had to adjust the brakes each time I swapped wheels, which made it a lot less convenient than I had planned.

As for using 9-speed chains on 10-speed cassettes - that sounds a bit iffy to me! I've never tried doing it, but 10-speed chains are narrower than 9-speed and I imagine that the manufacturers wouldn't have made them narrower if 9-speed chains would have worked properly so I'd say yes - new chain time!
