Am considering the Cotswold Corker audax (perm) on a mountain bike. Have ridden this twice already on a compact road bike but the first hill has beat me both times. Wanna place bets on my mtb attempt?
Previously, were you defeated by the hill or baulked by other riders? I recall that when it was a calendar event you had to be early or lucky (and shouting) to get up on the bike.
I would love to say it was the other riders ... but it wasn't. That hill (25%) is just too tough for me and my compact chain set machine. Hopefully my mtb will fair better. Tomorrow we will find out, for tomorrow I ride!
No, the Corker was one of the most popular 100km audax populaires for many years, attracting 100s of riders. Sean, the organiser, decided to have a rest, so it's now only available as a permanent, to enter and ride when you want.
I started the Corker from the Winchcombe control, saving the dreaded Bush Combe hill to last. Big mistake - I was whacked, had punctured, lost a chain and damn, didn't make that hill (again). Grr!
