Sick of half*rds so im going to take it to Edwardes in camberwell (London).

The rear de-railer (?) is bent, you can see that its bent in slightly towards the wheel so the gears are not working correctly.

Does anyone have a rough idea on how much this might cost on the best-case/worst case?

I assume best case is they can bend the de-railer back, and worst is replace it?

*its a GT Zum S3* http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_512525_langId_-1_categoryId_165534
thanks for your time all.

Ball Park...
You could get a rear mech for about 20 quid. If the LBS does the work, I suppose it might end up being £40 or something for them to relace it, if required.

Exactly what I was thinking, Spandex.

Most aluminium frames have a "sacrificial" gear hanger - i.e. it is designed to bend before your mech or frame do. If it is the hanger that's bent, you'll need to buy another and bolt that onto the frame (once you've removed the bent one, that is).

You need to take a look at the mech and figure out whether it's the problem, or the hanger is, imo.

As an aside - aren't gear hangers a rip off! Most places seem to want twenty quid for something which much cost 10p to make.

Dunno. I've only ever bought a Giant SCR one, and that was £7.
