Hi All,
I have recently acquired a Coppi Torino frame ready for a new build.
Does anyone know if the BB is Italian. I suspect it would be but would like to get some clarifications before buying one.
Many Thanks
Steve

I assume it's just a bare frame (i.e. no bracket fitted). If both sides of the BB shell have a right hand thread (you can tell by looking and working out which way they go) then it's an Italian BB. If a Bracket is fitted then if it says 36x24 on the cups then it's Italian - if it says 1.37x24 then it's English.

An Italian BB shell is 70mm wide and an English one is 68mm - not enough difference to be sure by measuring.

I'm almost 100% certain that the Torino has an Italian thread, I built one of these frames up for my brother a few years ago and am pretty sure that it was italian threaded, that has been the only italian thread that I've fitted.

I recently dismantled a Coppi and put the parts on to a Russian Ti frame. The Coppi had a british thread BB whilst the Russian Ti had an Italian BB. Tad confusing.

There was a time when you could rely on Italian frames to have IT BB's but in the later 90's they started to comply with the de facto English standard (for the American market I guess) so that now you never know unless you look.
