is it possible to delete old private conversations, if so how do i do it

Go into the conversation. On the top right hand corner you have the option to leave the conversation. That will get rid of it.

Conversations will disappear from your Inbox if you leave them, however they are only deleted from the server once all parties leave the conversation.
