Contour HD 1080p Problem

Just noticed a rather worrying issue with my Contour.

If I leave it running for over 40 minutes, it does a little "shave-and-a-haircut" beep be-be beep beep and switches off. It's done this twice now.

I then end up with a blank 40 minute video file on the SD.

I've emailed Contour about this as I am rather worried as if I do a long ride, or get knocked off some time and am unable to turn off record then I'll end up with no evidence.

Is this a known issue with the ContourHD, or is something potentially amiss?

I'm recording Action 720p on a Class 4 16gb MicroSD if that makes a difference. The broken files are around 1.8gb.

Isn't 2Gb the Fat file size limit.

Good point. If that's the cause, can the Contour not split video into 2GB chunks like other cams do? And why would it turn off corrupting the video files when it's full?

As for whether it would spilt them, you shall have to wait for a cam expert on that one or Contour to get back. The corruption will just be because of the write failure. I used to get it on my old Win98 files sometimes if I failed to stop the capture before the limit. Of course it could be something else entirely.

The three beeps maybe an indication of slow card speed, check the directory, two above the directory with the .mov files, see if there is a rec_err_log_txt file.

The 720p 60fps is supposedly the most demanding of memory cards, I have always used class 6 and never had a problem using that output format, although I do not use it very often.

My Contour saves file to a maximum size of 3,844,701 KB before it then starts a new file.
