Added these as a replacement to the Continental Double Fighter tyres that come as standard on Scott Sportster P hybrid bikes. They're not cheap for this size (you can pay as much as £48 each) but I sourced them at £32 (LBS)
Obviously the reason for changing was that the Fighters offered little to no puncture protection.
The Top Contacts are heavier (slightly) but the build quality is very high indeed being handmade in Germany and not knocked together somewhere in Taiwan.
They improve the look of my bike considerably.
The ride is harder and grip under breaking at the rear has worsened as the rubber compound appears to be harder than before. You can feel stones and twigs under the wheels now, but I do have them inflated to the max! Rolling resistance appears unchanged. As yet, no punctures despite riding 25 miles along the canal the other day. Over priced? Maybe. I think there may be a cheaper option in the Schwalbe range, but for now I'm happy, riding without fear of the P word, which is the main thing.
