Continental Contact tyres

I have a new bike on order that will be fitted with Continental City Contact tyres. They come with Continental's 'Safety System Guarantee'. This is as follows:

"In the event that a foreign object punctures or cuts into your tyre despite our safety system breakdown protection we'll replace the tube and tyre at absolutely no cost to you."

Does anyone have any experience of this tyre and this guarantee? On paper it seems almost too good to be true.

I've got the city contacts on my hybrid (there pre the guarantee though). For me though they have been good p'ture wise. IIRC I had one when they were a few hundred miles old but I should have avoided that (it was half a glass bottle sitting in the middle of the path but I was daydreaming again) and just before Christmas I lifted/ then wheeled my bike along the uni forecourt and some other helpful student  had left a brass drawing pin out for me (changing tubes at -4deg isn't much fun). The tyres are now just over 8100 miles old and I make that about 7-7500 miles between p'tures thats good enough for me. Handling wise I really like them too (but thats also got something to do with the bike). I was a bit skeptical about their width (37mm) and planned to replace them when they'd worn out but they haven't as yet and if anything now I'd say the width makes little difference.

Pick through this for my experience of the Conti' guarantee.

Since this thread, l have invoked the guarantee once more and again without fuss.

Remember, though, it's not a guarantee against punctures but it is a guarantee to replace the tyre and tube if you do get one.

Thanks for the comments. The guarantee looks like it has good value. Hopefully I won't have to use it

I use the sport contact variety. Well happy with them and totally bomb proof. 1800 miles so far and touch wood not one puncture.
