Earlier on in the year, I decided to have a go at wearing contacts for cycling. After doing a 2-3 week trial of everyday use ones, I decided not to buy them as they were very expensive (£45 for 30 pairs). I now mix my normal spectacles with prescribed sunglasses, but would contacts have been better to wear and easier to use everyday?

All down to personal choice really.

I do wear them when cycling. I like the option of being able to wear what ever pair of sunglasses I fancy (ok, vanity is a good reason for contacts)

Only problems I've really had is due to streaming eyes in very cold weather, usually accompanied by a bit of speed, when I have lost one. For my prescription I can manage without one in the right eye but can't with the left as short sighted in it.

I've also started buying the lenses online where they are cheaper. Actually £45 for 30 pairs sounds a lot. My optician charges around £90 fo 90 pairs ie. £1 per pair and even less online

That is expensive for daily contact lenses.
I buy 90 pairs for £60

Go to a different optician. I pay 65p a pair - about the same as ianrauk's - and get glasses at half price for having them from the same opticians.

Monthly lenses can work out cheaper but you have to clean them of course. They say throw then after 30 days but I use them for 30 wears. Disclaimer disclaimer.

To be honest, a lot of times I wear contacts, I wish I had brought glasses to keep the flies and muck out of my eyes. The real advantage is cheap bendy sunglasses for crashing , and you can see when it rains, or take off lenses if covered in sweat and you can't see through them.

I have the halfway house- fortnightly disposables.
Mine work out at around £25 per month but includes all solutions, a yearly eye test and half price glasses when I want new ones

Could get them cheaper online but like having a store to go to in case of problems.
