Hi folks,
I have been thinking about going clipless, but am bit nervous about the whole thing!
I have been reading about Shimanos Click'R system, supposed to be good for newbies!
Has anyone tried them, who is not used to them ( all the reviewers seem to be semi pro!)
I mainly leisure ride, and commute 3 miles each way.
Any help is gratefully received!!

RoadCC seem to like them. HERE

For a newbie to clipless pedals, they look ideal.

Don't bother, just get M520/SPD-SL/Look Keo.

Another vote for the M520s...very easy to get on with and cheap at the moment (sure I saw a thread in the found a bargain section saying they were about £16 recently). I used them for a couple of years before having the confidence to try SPD-SL and they were still going strong - no maintenance at all was needed with them.

For a few £'s more, go for the M540's. Easier to service (no need for the 'special Shimano tool), the bearings run smoother and they're lighter, too.

Lynn, be bold - go straight to the full clip-in M520 type pedal unless you want the flexibility of using ordinary shoes/sneakers which I assume the big platform on the ClickR will facilitate. To encourage you, consider that I went straight to regular clipin pedals when I started to ride road bikes a few years ago. I was 67 at that time.

I've got them, Click'R T400 on my fixed. Not a noob to spd's having bought my first pair in 1996...

I bought them because

they can be had in white - yep I'm that shallow
the white isn't paint that wears off and looks rubbish but is solid plastic - yep I'm that vain
they have reflectors built in - yep I'm that law abiding
they have reflectors built in - yep I think the bolt on reflectors look awful
they work fine with single release cleats - yep I'm that set in my ways (but they come with a standard pair of multi release)
they work fine with 'normal' shoes - yep I sometimes ride without wearing all the proper gear

All the non-noob needs to do is to set the tension screw a bit further than they would normally. Several hundred miles (40km per working day) on fixed using them and I've never come unclipped unintentionally even when honking hard. Like on Saturday morning.
