im a little tea pot
im trying to find a replacement chainring for my 2300 equiped allez and i cannot for the life of me find an 8 speed 50t chainring!

mines a bit worn and raggedy after 2000 miles of pretty much staying in the big ring so was thinking of replacing it but all i can find is some 53t 8 speed ones and a whole host of 10 speed with a smattering of 9 speed thrown in for good measure!

cyclechat please help me out otherwise i may bankrupt myself by switching all the gear to 105 spec!

4 posts in an no-one has mentioned Sheldon!
anyhow first deterimine your BCD by measuring the centre-to-centre distance between the bolt holes:
http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html should be 65mm for 110 bcd

then decide on your budget and buy from whoever you please. Spa Cycles are good. They have lots of different chainrings from basic alloy models up to fancy-knickers ceramic coated models. Lots in Stronglight brand: http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s149p0 though they do others but not all models are in stock.
& if it does not say 10-speed or 11-speed then it will 8 or 9 speed.

cool cheers for the info. i also forgot about sheldon! damned my sleep deprived brain!

on a similar note, will a 105 rear derailleur work with an 8 speed system?
I think so - unless it says it is for 10 speed? BTW black and yellow is quite right, I hadn't read post #3 properly. Sorry.
