I have a shocking confession to make. This week I spent up by lake windemere, while chucking stuff in the car I had to choose between golf clubs and the bike. I decided to take gold clubs on the basis that I could hire a bike while up there.
In the end we hired some........ electric bikes and to be honest I loved it. Those hills around windemere and coniston are pretty big and being able to twist the throttle and get a booster was great fun. I hired a free go electric MTB and it was brilliant.

 :stop: BOOOO!

I work on a golf course but would much rather have a four-hour ride than play 18 holes!

But seeing as you were on holiday, you're almost excused, apart from the fact that you hired electric bikes (FFS)!

In my defence the idea of electric bikes started becuase my GF wanted to come with me and she would have had no chance of doing that kind of distance without a battery. In the end she actually overtook me on the hills as she weighs next to nothing. I also did the first 8-9 miles with out battery power, that was the off road bit and was loads of fun, I can see why people love MTB ing now. I may have to buy an MTB now.

No issues with the golf, but take care not to let your GF become too dependant on batteries at this early stage

Batteries are fine for when I can't be bothered, saves time and energy.

Are we still talking about cycling ?

.............lake windemere..............hired some........ electric bikes........

If your in that area again I'd recommend stopping by Grizedale Forest - offers hire bikes and a massive selection of woodland trails to take to of various difficulties....
