I was just wondering why some people mount their computer on the handlebar stem - looks rubbish to me and also puts it too far back making it difficult to see!

So, a quick poll:

1. Handlebar mounting (right side of stem)
2. Handlebar mounting (left side of stem)
3. Central stem mount
4. Hate computers and don't use one
5. What's a computer?

No 2 for me since 95% of the gear changing is done with the right hand

My computers are on the bars to the right side of the stem (Number 1), it just feels right there to me, no particular reason. The GPS is stem mounted (Number 3): a) because it feels better there being the size of the stem and b) room, it keeps my handlebars uncluttered.

Edit, Oh I've just remembered if I'm using lights I prefer them to be on the left (I've got less time to react to a dodgy pull out on the left sohopefully being there the lights are spotted first) so thats a reason for the computers being on the right and also for placing the GPS back out of way.

3, on a Cinelli 1A stem, because mounting it on the engraved sleeve of the matching Cinelli 64 Giro D'Italia handlebar would be vandalism...

I always liked the XA stem, although the 1A has a nice clean simple look

The XA is definitely an incredibly beautiful stem, I would be perfectly happy with it too.

Have a combined GPS/computer and it's fixed on the stem. So, number 3. Otherwise it would interfere with my hand position when grinding up those hills....
