Hi guys
My computer is now riddled with ad/spyware.
I can solve this by going back to factory settings - which iv done before but I was wondering if I could save all my favorite web sites. These are always wiped clean by going back to factory settings

Help please

What do you mean by wiping back to factory settings? OS Rebuild or just rolling back via a utility? Either way you can save them on a usb stick or disk and replace the favourites folder from your profile when you have done the deed.

You can usually export as an HTML file.

In Firefox open 'Organise Bookmarks' and click the 'export and backup' button. The FEBE and OPIE add-ons will also save and backup your add-ons and password files respetively.

In IE there's an export option somewhere on one of the menus

We find malwarebytes is also good at getting rid of nasties.

However once you've cleaned-out your PC you've got to delete the quarantined files before removing the malwarebytes software, or else it simply dumps everything back on the PC again!

Your favourites are kept in a folder on your computer. You canjust opythis somewhere elseand copy it back if you choose to flatten/re-install/go back using utility on hidden partition. IE is in the documents and settings folder on the C: drive forthe account you are using and you can export from firefox as suggested previously. Be sure to virus scan them too, just in case.
