Completed my first race today, determined to do this after starting road racing. I did ok for first time however tumbled off quite a lot, very rocky so new bike took a pounding too. First ever step desent fine, second resulted in a cartwheel and trying to stop bike hitting me in head.

Really wished I had my multitool as half way around saddle worked loose.

But despite being battered and bruised had fun and much harder than road racing.

Cheers

It was the local MTB series , started road racing at start of the year and thought I would give it a go. Being honest, it is much harder racing off road than on. There is no letup and technically difficult to do, especially as pretty much first proper off road course i have ever ridden as well. By the third lap go into it apart from the broken saddle.....

I have never raced but have done two MTB Marathons so I know what you mean about the technical difficulty

It looks like I came 6th out of 10 which considering I fell off more than stayed on not a bad result. Very different to trail riding ;-) need more practise. Back to road racing next week
