Compatible cranksets

I have a BB30 bottom bracket on my Cannondale and I'm looking to replace my crankset. How would I know if a crankset is compatible with my bottom bracket?

Anything which states BB30.

SRAM, Rotor, FSA, Vision, etc etc etc, all make cranksets that come in BB30 variants. Just read the blurb, if it is a BB30 compatible, the manufacturer will make sure you know about it since it is a buzz feature.

Or fit a BB30 to Hollowtech adapter, then replace BB30 cranks with Hollowtech II cranks and ride happy

Do those adapters fit any bottom bracket?

I had a Hollowtech II BB on a previous bike and found it to be a very smooth ride

They fit any BB30 bottom bracket yes.

You need one of THESE adapaters

A Hollowtech II BB such as THIS

and finally your Hollowtech II chainset.

You can also use press fit adapters like THESE as opposed to the FSA on in my top link, but some people have reported creaking issues with these, I've had no such issues since converting my BB30 months ago.

The only advantage I can see from the cup adapters is you can remove them, whereas the FSA one is permanent, at least that's what they say for carbon frames. Although why anyone would want to revert back to BB30 is beyond me

FYI, I had ongoing creaking issues with my BB30, (it's very common if you Google it), but since converting to HTII I've never heard a peep
