Compatibility of MTB brakes/gears on road bike

Hi,

I have a reasonable quality Specialized road bike (Sirrus) with basic combination shifters and v-brakes. I want to replace these with the upgraded kit I installed on my old (now replaced) MTB. I'm not a great mechanic and don't want to start the job only to find that they just won't fit - or be laughed at in the bike shop!

Can anyone tell me if this is possible?

The MTB kit is Shimano Deore XT v-brakes, Avid FR 5 brake levers, SRAM X-5 shifters and an SRAM X-4 rear derailleur. Both bikes have the same number of gears and gear ratios.

Should be fine....as long as the handlebars and frame diameter for front derailleur are the same on both bikes.
