Hi everyone,
my new (shorter!) commute is (only) about 3 miles and I am thinking that seeing as there is a cycle path running virtually all the way, I would be better off with a hybrid, as it would be better at dealing with all the dropped kerbs etc. Having not owned a hybrid for a few years I'm slightly out of touch with the market now, so I was just wondering if someone could give me a rundown of the main players in the market around the 3 or 4 hundred quid mark?

ok cheers.
I'm thinking I'll probably not want to be cycling when it's raining, so I think the most viable option when the weather's foul will be a bus. Do you know if you can get season tickets for them?

I've got a Marin Fairfax. It can cope with the kerbs if you treat them with a healthy bit of respect.

Not as nice as my old Giant roadie on the road (which was very nice), but as it uses 700c x 28 tyres, it can still roll along at a respectable speed. carbon forks, index gears etc.

Actually I don't think that will do. I've just had a look at google earth and at a certain point the cycle path ends and a bridleway begins instead, a bridleway which will probably puncture a marin fairfax's tyres, so I think that for this section of the commute I may need a horse. Can you recommend a decent make/model?

A white one? Remember to make sure you lock it securely when you leave it at the point at which you switch so as to make sure it's still there tomorrow ..

Is number of legs something I should be bothered about? Apparently number of tubes/wheels sometimes doesn't matter with bikes so I just wondered if it was the same with horses.
