commuting on a bmx style/stunt bike

I have noticed 3 blokes regularly commuting (separately) through Liverpool on what I call bmx bikes, I think they are more for stunts and tricks, you know the ones with the bar extensions on the hubs. Is this a new way to commute? They are dressed for work, not suited and booted but smartly dressed and with a man bag! They look as if they know what they are doing but the ride looks very uncomfortable to me, most of the ride is out of the very low saddle.....

The silliest I have seen is the gentleman in a suit and briefcase who commutes down the A45 bypass in Birmingham on a unicycle. Haven't seen him for a while though, hope he's alright.
