I have a Halfords bought Apollo mountain bike and am looking to buy a seat/saddle to make cycling more comfy. I'm a heavy set fellow at 137 kgs and recently back into the bike world and find after about 10 minutes my bum is numb (even on gym exercise bikes). Any idea on where to get a seat that's pretty comfy as I would like to cycle more to help me lose weight

You are going to just get a ton of people either saying what saddle they like the best (no relevence to you due to needs, sit bone size, style of bike) or people saying the same as I am.

The only way you can find out is by trying them.

P.S. obviously brooks is the way too go.

As above mate but also no matter what seat you choose your bum will not be your best friend for a while. It takes some time for your bum to become accustomed to a saddle when you first get on the bike, unless your sofa's at home are 6 inches wide it is going to take some getting used to, the more you cycle the quicker you'll start to feel more comfy on the seat. Good luck with your quest and happy cycling

If you're new to biking your arse is always going to hurt for the first few rides. Stick it out, and things should get better. If you spend good money on a new saddle, you might find it's even worse than the original.
Don't forget correct saddle height helps for comfort and also buy a pair of padded shorts.
