It's funny, those small details you only notice after a year of owning a bike

Check out the state of the cable management on my Boardman Hybrid Pro.

The rear brake cable almost touches the front wheel, and the front brake cable... we'll I'm surprised it hasn't lassoed a passing bike/dog/cow

The front wasn't even cable-tied to the holder on the fork - the cable tie was fitted loose around the fork and cable, sliding up and down

I only really noticed when I compared it to the cable management on my Scott which is very nicely done

Halfords really are a bunch of monkeys.

It's really bugging me now, especially as the rattling makes quite a racket and I'm constantly aware of it.

I suppose I'm going to end up paying my LBS to sort it out

Nah, they were just being generous with the cabling. that's all.

Seriously though, why not get yourself some cable cutters and DIY. Routing cables is easy, just remember to measure twice and cut once. If I were doing it I'd cut them slightly too long to start with, ride the bike for a couple of days so you can get a feel for your routing, then trim them back if needed.

midnight, I'd happily do just that, but for the added complication that they're hydraulic disc brakes (which i forgot to mention).
