Colder weather gear

I have a long sleeve jersey, and a long sleeve compression base layer
I also have a soft shell jacket
Think I need something else for the current weather particularly when colder and for the next month or so for days when I don't need the soft shell jacket
Any recomendations
Do I need a gilet or windstopper
I don't want to spend too much
Cycling yesterday did not get too cold but back ached a little so think a tad more protection from wind/cold is needed.
Ideas weclomed

Most stuff online but you can get delivery to store, try on and return ASAP. Stores carry some kit

Note there is no store in Guildford. Just head office and warehouse

You don't need a lot of gear when it is cold as you produce your own heat anyway. In deep winter, I wear a balaclava, long sleeve vest and jersey and sometimes jacket ( if it is reaaaally cold) , long trousers and may be overshoes if reaaaaaally cold wind or wet) and winter gloves, that's it. I never ride in icy conditions, snow or below 5 degrees. These clothings are for between 5 and 12 degrees.

I can recommend the Altura night vision jacket as I bought one Friday AFTER getting soaked to the bone . £69.99 from the Giant store in Twickenham . £89.99 on Wiggle .

I had on a pair of boxers, tights, padded shorts, a t-shirt and a rain jacket and I was freezing. Thermals are getting bought.

I bought an ( Altura) gilet - just as one part of solution. I already have some non cycling gear, e.g. fleece waistcoat, which can be part of solution. Keeping core temperature up is key. Look at Basso on the Vuelta. I do have a couple of breathable non cycling waterproofs, though my recollection from years ago was that any length of journey and breathable or not you would get wet inside, Am mostly avoiding wet for now

It does not really rain that much in the winter, far more dry days than wet so windproof clothing is very useful.

It's a big ticket but Goretex do a wind/waterproof shell with removable sleeves. I bought one 8 years ago and it was worth every penny I spent on it. Wish I had the disposable to replace like with like

At present I am not going with too expensive items as I am building up my kit. I had notice some waterfproofs with detachable arms but decided later
I just discovered the local Cycle Surgery. There are a good number of LBS and similar within 10 miles, bought some SPD shoes and pedals (wanted to try the shoes on) at Cycle Surgery.
Can't keep spending (btw my bike is a hybrid and I really would like a road bike) have to draw a line somewhere for now

Thats the thing, if you buy it all at once you will be in debt. Pick things up gradually and it wont be so bad, priorities what you need. There are loads of things I want but the bank balance wont allow it.

Clothing, clipless pedals, road bike (next season) gps, spare tyres and tubes. The list goes on and on.

Just to add , I wore the Altura night vision jacket this morning over a normal tshirt . The wind was bitter this morning but the jacket totally stopped it getting to me . Again tonight ( its cold out there )
As someone that works outside a lot im quite surprised at how good it is . I might buy another one for work if I can remove the red light on the back ^_^
