I wonder if anyone can help me on this one. My youngest son has gone to New Zealand (one way ticket and work permit) and has emailed me with a the number of a mobile phone that he has just bought out there. The number is ten digits long.

Does anyone know what the prefix is for phoning him from the UK? I've tried 0064 but without response so far.

Try +64! That should do it!

Patrick - TeleDiscount are great for making cheap overseas calls (especially EU - 1 p/min to landlines in France & 10 p/min to mobiles for example).

If you dial this prefix number - 0911 501 25 25 - it will let you make calls to mobiles in New Zealand for 15p/minute which should be a lot cheaper than dialling direct.

If you can get your son to a landline, you can call him for 2p/minute using this access number - 0844 462 95 95.

Dial the access number. A voice will tell you the cost per minute, you then dial the NZ code and the phone number followed by # to indicate that you have finished dialling.

NB If you pause while dialling the number, the system thinks that you have finished dialling and tries to connect you with a partial number so you need to be ready to dial the whole thing in one go.
