Closed road sportives

I've done a couple of sportives for the first time this year and fancy doing a few more next year. I'd like to do at least one long (90m+) on closed roads to see what that is like. Are there many? I know of Ride London (but seemingly hard to get into) and those in Wales and Isle of Wight which are a bit too far.

Ride London is difficult to get in to for the base price, but if you're happy to ride for a charity there were spaces for all sorts of charities going for a month or two after. You have to sort out sponsorship though (I think they are mostly looking in the £500-750 range as a minimum.)

There are a lot of ballot places for ride 100, must be at least 10-15k?. I expect you have a better chance as a woman due to lower number of entrants, also I reckon they quota on age, so you are going to be up against most people if a 20-40 year old bloke.

Make sure you are a British cycling member when you apply, I think that probably helps too ;)

Googling brings up quite a lot of hits for closed road sportives, e.g.the big wiggle etape cymru one. You may need to travel, some will be very hilly which could be a shock given your location!

No guarantees though as there'll be a strict MAMIL quota I hope (as I'll be doing it and want younger eye candy)

Etape Caledonia.....81 miles, one short climb...difficult to get into......pre-registering doesn't guarantee a place........starts/finishes in Pitlochry........Fri/Sat/Sun cycling festival in beautiful Highland Perthshire......
