I have only been riding for a few weeks but allready dreaming/window shopping for a better bike.

Looking at the spec sheets for different bikes the term "Close clearance frame" comes up on some bikes. Can someone tell me what this means please.

Type of bike Im interested in is probably a Hybrid fast commuter type bike. Not rushing into anything as the secondhand Appollo CX 10S I have is still able to go faster than I can pedal .I have to say that after about 3 weeks of almost daily rides the hills are getting a little bit easier than they were.My fitness still has a lot of scope for improvement though:smile:

OK thanks for that. I will probably have to rule out any close clearance bikes then as I dont really want to get sprayed in road muck every time its wet.

Got one- it is a bit of a pain. Had to chop the mudguards in two to fit them.

Also the frame may be too tight to fit fatter winter tyres.

I think the way to get room is with a touring style bike - made for real road use not track.

Winter trainer is another option. Many roadies have (at least) 2 bikes and the winter one will typically have clearance for guards. Look at Ribble, Kinesis among others.
