I know that there have been a number of threads asking for advice about pedal noises, but I have followed the advice for those and still have the noise.

The clonk happens when I put pressure (drive?)on the right-hand pedal. It did used to happen on the left but that has now gone (a clue maybe?).

Anyway, I decided to record the noise and the video below shows me riding normally, a little free-wheel and then changing gear and peddling. The clonk in the video seems to be slightly exaggerated, but it is still noisy enough to distract me!

What do you think?

Oh, and apologies for video quality, I guess I reduced it too much

The only rhing ive ever had remotely like that is when a BB has been going, although yours is reqlly quite regular, mine was intermittent. I got a clonk which I assume was the bearings failing. As the balls and cage wear, i think the balls are moving against each other, then suddenly releasing under pressure producing a clonk.
Not saying im right, but thats how I rationalised it.

Impossible to tell from the video and you say you have tried all the normal suggestions......
I doubt that a noise that loud won't have some evident clues as to the cause. If you look correctly.
I would try spinning the crankset with the chain off and see if you can feel any roughness. I Would then try rocking the crankset from side to side to feel for play and also hold one crank still and try pulling and pushing the other arm to feel for any rotational sloppiness - such as you might find if the crank arm bolts are not torqued up to the right setting and the crank arm is slipping on its axle.

Just to reiterate that the noise is exaggerated in the video. It is very noticeable when riding though.

The bike is just over two weeks old so I would hope that the noise is not down to wear and tear!

As much as I push pull and wiggle the crank arms, I can see no play or roughness, or indeed anything that would suggest a problem.

Perhaps my best bet is to nip over to the bike shop to see what they can suggest... I'm sure they have a lot of experience in creaks and clunks ☺

I was going to say, I thought you have a new bike... I would definitely take it to the shop, it shouldn't be going clonk after two weeks.

Well I took it for a quick run around the estate to double-check some stuff, and it seems that if I take my weight off the saddle the clonking noise stops. Thing is I'm pretty sure that I did this yesterday... ho hum!

So, I will play around with the saddle post (clean, adjust, etc) and see how that goes. Thanks for the good advice peeps (as always).

I may as well go down to the shop anyway... any excuse

It's still there, but you know what....I'm going to ignore it, or just regard it as character . If something falls off, I'll worry about it then ( as long as it's not me doing the falling off bit)
