Well done, once you're in them you'll never go back!

Indeed. I fell off in Canal Street (London) right near some Sustrans fellas at a stop light... been riding in cleats for about 8 years. Oh the shame of it. Thank God it wasn't peak hour in front of Liverpool Street Station. LOL Thankfully you can be sure it hardly ever "physically" hurts

Well done. I fell over the other day, there was a red light on the middle of a steepish hill which I stopped at. When I tried attaching my second foot, it was too late and I fell. Guess I shouldn't try clipping in on the middle of a uphill.

It will probably happen when you start to think you have got the hang of being clipless and you don't need to think about it any more...

Oh how the neighbours laughed!

I recently fitted clipless to my road bike and have been on quite a few rides with no problems at all, plenty of traffic lights, give way junctions, not a problem! I always released one pedal to support myself when stopping but always had to look down when I was starting off again to locate the pedal which in inadvertently always seems to turn itself upside down.

So imagine my embarrassment to cruise up my drive way, with one pedal released and I decided to pedal a little further up the path, but the offending pedal hadn't turned and without looking my shoe engaged the pedal straightaway. A moment of sheer panic as the bike came to a stop and in slow motion, I lost any sense balance and over we went with the neighbour looking on, who was about to compliment me on my new bike!

There is something ironic about having a new road bike because the first thought I had was dont scratch it, its brand new! With this in mind I somehow managed to roll onto my back with the bike still attached to me. So I ended up having a conversation with my laughing neighbours lying flat on my back while still attached to bike still which was now directly above me.

So take heed, it does happen when your least likely to expect it!

Cheers good people - Went for a bumper ride on Saturday (70 miles) with no major problems (one slight concern at traffic lights where I had my left leg disengaged but started leaning to the right - luckily my right foot disengaged in time).

Used it again today - happy so far

I took my bike to the Alps in July to watch Le Tour and cycle up some proper hills,my only "clipless moment" occurred when I tried to short cut a hair pin (one of those nasty uphill jobs) and it was so steep I just stopped and over I went, very slowly. A couple of German ramblers found it all very funny "I vish ve had a camera, ya!"

Yesterday I joined the 'clipless' club. I was having a good ride and had ventured up my 'personal' Mont Ventoux. Managed to get to the top and felt really good. There are traffic lights at the top and I noticed a silver car not giving me much room to pass as I gambled that I could keeping moving without stopping. However, I was wrong and could feel the bike coming to a stop and my cleats were wedged deep!!! Managed to steer towards the kerbside before ungracefully falling off. My main concern was my bike so I did a commando roll and stopped on my back with the bike in the air (dying fly style).

Why is it that white van man is always passing as you do these things?
