Looking at getting some 540's, but what is the difference between the normal and light action?

Clipping in or out is easier or harder.

Yes.

Look at the Exhustar ranges and look keo ranges as they offer variable tension.

I have the 540 LA's on my winter bike and Ultegra's on my best bike. Bought in that order.

The LA's are unbelievably easy to use to start out. The Ultegra's are a lot stiffer.

Can't go wrong with the 540 LA's to be fair. Great online prices too.

I've had a pair of A520's on my bike for a couple of years now. I adjusted them to the lightest setting when I fitted them, and that's how they've remained.
