hello all

im going clipless and looking for some advice im looking at getting some shimano mo87 mtb shoes will they be ok with cranckbrothers (egg beaters) as peddles or do i just go with shimano m520spds?? (really like the look of the egg beaters) any help appreciated lee!

Hello mate, I think there are no compatability problems between Shimano shoes and Crank Brothers cleats so you should be okay. I have a mate who used to have a Shimano MT20 shoes/Eggbeater combo and they were okay if I recall correctly. There is one issue that you may wish to consider and that is that Shimano shoes are made on a narrow 'last' which some folk seem to think can cause 'hot foot' discomfort on a reasably long ride. I myself wear Specialised Body Geometry shoes (both Road and MTB) and can vouch for the comfort they give. Try before you buy if you can.

I have had crank bros cleats on Shimano 'SPD' branded shoes. Before I left them on a train. Don't leave yours on a train!

But yes they work fine, even if it seems a bit wrong ;)
