Clipless pedals

I put some clipless pedals spd sl on my NordicTrack Bike. My son likes to ride the bike occasionally and uses his tennis shoes. Is it ok if he puts pressure the on the bottom side of the pedals?

Setting aside the potential for your son's discomfort, no harm will befall your pedals. It is only occasional use too.
