Had a look at the sticky, couldn't find what I was after.

I've noticed my feet coming away from the pedals a couple of times on my Hybrid which is starting to annoy me so I think going clipless is a good idea.

On a hybrid that gets used for everything, commute, shops, leisure, long rides... what sort of clipless would be best? Road bike 3 cbolt, MTB 2 bolt type or.. something else?

I'd go for mtb type cleats, (SPDs or equivalent) as the recessed cleats mean it is far easier to walk in mtb shoes than road shoes.

I find it handy having double-sided pedals so I don't have to wear SPD shoes if I don't want to.

Wiggle has the Wellgo ones for under £20

You'll want a two bolt system, something like spd's so you can walk off the bike. You'll probably also want a pedal with a cage so you can occasionally wear normal shoes. I forget the model (M434 or M234 or something like that), but I've got pop up clip pedals with a cage on my hybrid and you also get pedals with normal flat one side and clip the other.

I just bought a pair of shoes and pedals which come with the cleats on Evans website warehouse sale.

M520 pedals - you can fit a plastic platform on one side so you can ride with normal shoes when you want to.

I've not ridden clipless before but seems MTB shoes are best for general use so that's what I've gone for.

I've managed fine with Lidl MTB shoes and Shimano m520 pedals, I have never felt the need to have a non-clipless side as using the cleated shoes is no inconvenience at all. The double sidedness is useful as you don't have to have the correct side facing up when you are looking to put your foot down quickly. You will quickly pick up the technique of clipping in and out although I still have to master the art of pulling up on the pedals without straining my joints.
