Clip on panniers - thick rails

Could do with a couple of clip of panniers for shopping. Not planning on removing them much just prefer clip on to straps. However, my bicycle pannier rack rails are quite thick- just under 16mm. Ordered some Decathlon ones but the hooks weren't wide enough. Shall I go for it and get some Ortlieb ones, seen a pair for about £75 or something else?

If the clips are bigger than the rail, you can pad the rail with old innertube and electric tape. If the clips are not big enough, the panniers are quite useless. Ortleib seem to fit all racks.

My Elephant Bike has thicker rails than on my standard rack. So anything that fits an Elephant/Royal Mail bike might do you. I think proper Royal Mail ones come up on ebay sometimes.

Alternatively Ortlieb panniers that use their QL3.1 mounts, not the cheapest but have a distinct advantage that a overly full pannier can be removed from the bike whilst still on the saddle making dismounting that much simpler.

Thanks all. Think I'm still tempted by the Ortlieb ones. By the time I've added on the 2 adapters to the Carradice ones there isn't much in it. The Royal Mail ones look good but they look like a strap fastening. Also seen these

I take it the Orliebs you've been looking at are the Back Roller City ones with the QL-1 clips? Ortlieb quote these as being suitable for up to 16mm rails and I've just measured mine (which are still waiting for a bike to fit to) for confirmation.
