Changed the cleats in my road shoes a few weeks back and unfortunately i have developed a sever pain when and after riding in my calf or to the side of my leg by the calf  and in my foot itself, can anybody point me in the right direction to adjust them myself as the price of a Bike Fit is way beyond me at the moment.

P.S Just took delivery of some "Fisk R3s" and need to be setting them up properly as well.

Cheers ^_^

I would suggest that you go on to YouTube, I watch on the global cycling network channel (GCN) they have loads of hints tips and news video's. they have done one recently about cleat positioning which really helped me. I'm sure there will be loads of video's on YouTube that would give good advice

Push the cleats towards back of the shoe if possible, to far forward puts you on your toes which can strain your calfs, if they are already as far back as possible then you might need a special insole especially if you have high arches ?

You are supposed to sit on a table with your legs dangling down to see the natural position of feet so you can adjust the position of the cleats to suit.

The cleats should normally be just under the front pads of your feet, because they support you best in that position. As Eddy mentioned, suitable insoles will also help reduce any calf strain.

Find where your bone is. The big toe that is. Theres a rivet in the side of the cleat move the rivet to the line of the bone. And thats where it should be fixated.

You'll need electrical tape a pen. Avoid moving far back as suggested and the likes. If pain still exists then look at getting esoles put in. Where you located? If your near Sutton one day pop into the shop.

Hi there, how's the fit of the R3's? I'm very tempted, only put off by reading about the high arches, and knowing that mine are low, but in cycling position not sure it matters so much, since feet will be pointing forward, lifting arch anyway.

I'd be very interested to gear how you find them.

I got a pair of red Fizik R3's. Had my first test ride in them last night in howling wind and rain. Was able to put more power down for definite and averaged 17mph on a short 13 mile ride when I would have struggled to do 15mph in the same horrendous conditions. Looking forward to using them on an 85 mile sportive this Sunday. Size 43 is snug on the sides but a little too long for me but not too big to want to change them once I ratchet them up tight. I say go for them if you can buy them for £60 at Planet X
