Clearing new message alert

No big deal but I was wondering how the new/unread message alert works.

Even after I have read a message it stays at the same count. I have even sat and stared at a message for what I imagine might be the required time, but it still tells me I have a new message.

Result being I occasionaly don't trust it when I should.

Can I mark them as read?

Oddly, the notifications don't "go" once you've looked at what they are notifying you about and are managed separately.

To get rid, just click the notifications drop down and select "view all ..." at the bottom. Now tick the top tick-box on the right and select delete notifications. This should remove them all.

I've mentioned that read items should remove the related notice and this may be put into effect in a future update.
