How would the panel approach this? It’s from the proverbial ‘barn find‘ I think - little wear but quite badly corroded.

Mid 90’s Shimano Alloy chainset (Biopace!) I’m assuming it was fairly shiny when new and would like to get it back to its former glory, or at least looking a bit better than it is now.

Wire wool and elbow grease!

Had plenty of experience with Motorcycle casings so not too different.
As suggested above fine wire wool is a good start but I've usually started with wet and dry paper to remove the deeper scratches/marks followed by finer and finer paper until ready for the buffing wheel and or autosol.

Scotchbrite pads are very good too, different grades.

Even a drill held in a vice with a cheap polishing wheel attached will give good results.

Very wet, wet and dry going down to the grade that is like flour and then on to Autosol.
