Just a quickie, bought a chain cleaning device, failed to buy degreaser to go in it.
Am I OK to use "Muc-Off" or am I better waiting and buying proper stuff?

Washing up liquid is a degreaser.

Use a light lube like ProLink Gold and do two jobs at once. Use a degreaser, then you have to get that cleaned out of the inside of the chain and get the chain dried before you re-lube. In my experience, this just shortens the life of the chain.

muc-off, washing up liquid and the like will not do a very good job at all. Even the cheaper degreasers struggle in chain cleaners - buy the Park Tools chain brite - it is awesome and safe on paintwork too

Chain cleaners are the devil's work. You don't need them.

Cloth, some cheapo oil and 100 revolutions or so of the crank is good enough for a reasonable clean. A deep clean, then look to take chain off and make sure the jockey wheels, cassette and crank are cleaned too.

If you do it right, you shouldn't have to do many deep cleans a year (perhaps none).

+1 Messy and too much faff.
Mickle method is all you need.
(And I had better not mention that I use cotton buds to clean between the links:whistle:)
