I haven't got a picture, but has anyone else seen the battered old Major Nicholls with the home made Dexion rack, around Wolverhampton? Just my sort of bike.;)

I must confess to owning this beauty. I rescued it from a skip, gave a quick clean, a few drops of oil and new front brake pads, fitted a cheap rack and basket and use it maybe once a week to go to the shops. It rides better than it looks and I have no worries about anyone pinching it. It came with a nice little bag for a puncture repair kit attached to the rather springy saddle.

I have even took enough interest to attack the rims and handlebars with chrome polish!

I also removed the cornflakes reflector as can be seen on the front spokes. I do have some pride...

There's one I see in Cambridge which, frankly, scares me. It's a white, ladies/step-thru with such a monster of a twist somewhere in the frame/forks that the front wheel is several inches off-line from the rear.

It's not always there, and when it is there, it's locked, so someone clearly uses and values (!) it.

I'll try to get a photo when I next see it. If anyone else fancies shooting it*, it can be found outside the Giraffe Cafe, behind the bus station.

* I mean photographically, but "putting it out of its misery" may be more appropriate.

there's an old green carlton that's missing saddle, bars and headstock that seems to be abandoned at my local station. steel 27" (gently rusting) steel rims, weinmann centre-pull brakes (the frame is obviously designed to be used with those).

don't know if it's worth a restore, but i do wonder what the attitude of the station staff would be if i offered to take it off their hands…

Here's my two favourite bikes:

The Clubman, uncomplainingly taking me out every day even though it's soon to be 62 years old.

My Peugeot, which I had to retire last year as it was bent, and had a noodled head tube. It might be reborn in the future. Here it was carrying a piece of wood to my boat.

Finally popped into Cambridge today, so here's the bike I mentioned earlier in this thread.

As I mentioned, it comes and goes, so is certainly used. When it's parked there, the owner is public-spirited enough to lock it up so that no-one steals that downpipe.

Looking at the photo, I'd estimate that the front wheel's contact patch is 100 to 150mm right of the head tube axis  although I'm pretty sure that it varies considerably as the wheel rotates!

One or two...probably not a wise question to ask of someone who's been to Amsterdam - especially someone who is a photographer and a cyclist! A small selection...

theres one in our town centre that pops up all over the place
its an old muddy fox mtb with tescos bag wrapped around a jumper for a seat
the rust is all thats holding it together and the tubes can be seen through cracks in the sidewalls of the tyres ,
ive no idea who owns it or whos riding it but its moved about and never chained up ,
been a month since i saw it last so maybe its fell apart or will re surface again so i can get a pic .
