Clamping a Carbon Seatpost

I currently have a fixed pannier rack (braze on and bolts) on my winter road bike but I'm using it less and less these days; I was thinking about changing it for a clamped type (something like this). Would the clamp be OK with a carbon seat post or would I need an alloy one?

Thanks in advance,
HLaB

TBH I'd stick with the fixed one. The clamp on sort seem to be heavy and a bit wobbly IME.
If you do go with the clamp-on one, then I'd use an alloy post, as I'd be concerned about point-loading a composite structure.
Someone else will be along soon to tell you I'm wrong!!!

I've got a rack with a clamp attachment, I can bring it along to the ride if you want to try it out... I'd bring a spare seat post though!
