I've just received a City Link Network update sheet from one of our suppliers.

Tell me what depot is local to you, and I'll see if it's on there and what the latest news is.

it's the Birmingham depot.

update: no 9am delivery. phoned them at 9.30... it's still at the depot, come down and collect it if you want.

had a bath, got out of bath, missed call on new mobile. message, don't come down, we haven't located it yet, we'll call when we've got it.

call placed to them at 3pm and 4pm to call centre, can't get a reply from depot.

i called at 5.45 absolutely livid... sorry madam, we have been informed your parcel has been LOST!!!

WTF... told her i lost 3 days off work, and now will lose my week's work at NEC which is worth about £600 quid. She informed me that i can write to them for compensation of cost of parcel. Told her that as i haven't signed for it, my supplier will just send it me again, hopefully not through them. but i want the complaints dept address so i can write in and complain with a list of my expenses, "no actually, 2nd thoughts, give me the name of your Chief Exec.

"i don't know it"

"you don't know it???!!!! well, that just sums it up doesn't it, that you don't even know the name of your chief executive, tell you what, get your supervisor who can give me the name". She went away and came back with a name... which turned out to be the wrong one.

and the fact that they didn't know his name will aslo go in my letter to him.

have left an out of hours message with my suppliers to ask them to call me back about this. Going to tell them to use Royal Mail or lose my business.

3 days stuck in my house. 3 days roads have been clear (i know this, i drove there, i think we're the only place in Britain that hasn't had snow) and they tell me its due to adverse weather conditions. Seriously, on Tuesday afternoon i walked back from Gym, the snow was dripping off the trees, and i thought about getting my bikini out! can you tell i'm mad??? does is show?

Courier companies do my head in. I remember ordering a book for a present a few years back. It was a somewhat hard-to-find book (Six Percent Solution if I recall correctly) and as it was for a present I wanted next day delivery. Well, it didn't turn up. Of course I contacted the supplier who said it had been delivered and signed for. Oh really? Send over a copy of the delivery note then...

It turned out it had been signed for. It had been signed for by "A. Porch" (I kid you not).

The book was finally delivered a few days later. I've currently got an order on the way from Amazon for a variety of Chrimbo presents. All are being delivered by YODEL (whoever they are) and the tracking website informs me that they were delivered three days ago, which is nice. I'll remember that when my niece asks me where her present is... "Your present? Oh, I gave that to you earlier. Look, here's a note I wrote myself which proves I did..."

Birmingham isn't even on my list of affected depots. So either the list is as accurate as their service or the depot are talking Shite. Neither of which would surprise me.

Yet another reason I was glad to have our company move from City Link to UPS, who are cheaper and much more reliable.
I can get a parcel sent from California on a Friday to me in London by Monday on a standard service, with full tracking details. If something ever does go wrong, I can speak to one person and they will find out what has happened and call me back within a few hours.

I don't know how Shitty Link are even still running.

I ordered 2 book from Amazon on 30/11/10 and gave my work address as delivery address for convenience. I got an update from them that the books had shipped on 01/12/10 with an ETA of 02/12/10.

They also provided a Shitty-Link tracking number.

On 03/12/10 (a day late) shitty-link updated the tracking number to show the parcel on a van out for delivery that day.

It didn't arrive.

I fully appreciate we have had bad weather.

It also didn't arrive on 06 or 07 or 08/12/10.

I saw the driver on 08/12/10 and he said it wasn't on his van.

The depot rang on 09/12/10 to ask if my work had any collections (we had), at that point I asked about my parcel, and was told it would be on a van for delivery tomorrow (10/12/10).

It didn't arrive.

All week I have been receiving email updates from City Link as to the status of their depots, and the local delivery depot stated on 09/12/10 that deliveries were a day behind schedule, and any new collections were being held back to clear old business.

Fair enough.

I then checked this morning, and the parcel has been 'RETURNED TO SENDER'

WTF???????

Lied to 3 times.

It wasn't on the van on the 03/12/10, or 06/07/08-12-10.

So their tracking updates are bullsh*t.

It wasn't on the van on the 10/12/10 as assured verbally with the delivery depot.

So their operators are full of bullsh*t.

My parcel has been with them over a week, sSo their nice little emailed status updates 'We are a day behind' were bullsh*t.

Now they have returned my parcel from a depot in YORKSHIRE to drive all the way back down south (past my work) to Milton Keynes.

So their vow to clear backlog is not only bullsh*t, but also makes no logistical sense.
