Useless.

Ordered something for next day delivery.

Track Order: 30.11.10 6.31am. Parcel loaded onto van for delivery between 7.30am and 5.30pm

5.30pm on 30.11.10... no delivery

Phoned Shitty-Link... got through at 6.45pm. "Yes, sorry, delivery will be with you within 1 hour" (o they work night shift then do they?)

10.30 pm placed call to Shitty Link telling them i'm still waiting.

9am 1.12.10 - placed call to Shitty Link telling them i'm still waiting, and lost a day off work yesterday. Parcel is on the van but can't say what time it is to be delivered. Will try and get hold of driver

11am... still not tracked down driver.

2pm... "Sorry Madam, we were mistaken, parcel has not left the depot. Deliveries have not been made due to snow (note, person is in call centre in Milton Keynes)

"kindly" informed call centre person there is NO FOOKIN SNOW ON THE ROADS IN BIRMINGHAM AND I HAVE WAITED IN MY HOUSE FOR 2 DAYS FOR YOU TO TELL ME IT'S NOT EVEN BEEN LOADED ONTO A VAN FOR DELIVERY BECAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS FOR YOUR DRIVERS TO DRIVE IN NON-EXISTENT SNOW, WHEN IF YOU HAD TOLD ME THE TRUTH IN THE FIRST PLACE I COULD HAVE COME AND PICKED THE DAMN THING UP YESTERDAY. (at this point can't go pick it up coz car battery is flat)

6pm (new car battery fitted) phoned Shitty-Link who confirm parcel is at depot and i can go and pick it up (call centre person checked with B'ham depot)

7pm arrive at depot after trouble free journey (except for football match traffic) on non-snowy roads (amazing that!) to be told on arrival that my parcel is buried under thousands of parcels coz they have a backlog.

Promised delivery for before 9am tomorrow. Believe it when i see it.

I BLAME SHITTY LINK FOR:
1... my stress levels.
2... my flat car battery (obviously because i had to wait in for 48 hours my battery went flat! ahem)
3... my frazzled fried phone (see other thread) because had i not been bored i would not have tried out my solar charger which i've already had in the draw for 3 months.

You have my sympathy, I've had loads of deliveries from them, some as late as 9pm. Never mind the fact I've had to wait up all day and I have to leave for work at 9.30pm.

One night he turned up at half eight complaining he'd been attacked. I told him I'm not surprised as its the middle of the bloody night!

LOL I know they have a crap job and i don't dispute the weather is cold (although i do dispute there is snow on the roads! it melted off yesterday!) but if they had kept me properly informed i could have gone and collected my parcel rather than spend 2 days stuck in my house when i've got stuff to do. very frustrating

I've had nothing but excellent service from Citylink here in Leeds. My only gripe is the obscure location of their depot rivalled only by the nearby Parcelforce collection point.

I used to work in parcels delivery, can't understand why deliveries are so late. The drivers deliver in the morning and collect in the afternoon. Do it the other war around and you have chaos.

When I was a student I took on work delivering stuff from a mail order company around south Manchester. It was without any doubt the worst job I've had in my life. It was also an eye-opener into conditions on some of the city's best and worst areas.

I've given up on next-day deliveries, I'm just pleased when things arrive (they almost always do eventually).

I had an expected delivery from them where I waited in all day. Nothing came, and when I rang they said the driver had 'carded' the property as there was no answer. Needless to say, we were in, there was no card left.

I contacted the firm I'd ordered from and told them I wouldn't be buying from them again because of what had happened.

I had the same trouble with city link last year. The Mrs bought some GHDs and the snow came 1st day they didn't del 2nd we were out as didn't have day off work. We have a depot about 10 miles away from us but for some reason the took it to the one that's 30+miles away. I called them and said that I wouldn't be able to get there until the weekend to pick it up and to keep it at the depot. They said this would be fine but when we turned up they had sent it back to where we bought it from.

And more recently I sold a bike on ebay and the seller arranged collection with city link. I had the bike all boxed up in a proper bike box with "do not lay flat" "this way up" fragile" etc on it but the still managed to damage it before it got to him.

Make sure you tell the companies why you will not order from them. They deserve to know.
When I order from Wiggle I always ask that they send by Royal Mail and they have not let me down so far.

Worst job I ever had was a Christmas job with parcel carrier HDNL. Different route everyday with over 200 parcels to deliver. Everyday I failed to deliver every parcel. Was glad when my 2 months were up and I could return to the brew.
