City Centre Cycling Returns

Was mentioned briefly at the start of last nights ToB coverage, basically Sweetspot are planning 10 City Centre Criteriums which will be televised.
To be held on a Tuesday and Thursday over a 5 week period in May and June next year. Rumour has it one Crit may take place on the Isle of Man.

A little bit of detail on the CW site. Hopefully a resurgence of interest in cycle racing in UK. I remember watching crit racing when I was a kid on tele.

Yet another good move forward. The evening crit. races were really good fun to watch, so much so that Channel 4 used to show them. Is this really a renaissance of racing in this country?

I think Norwich Union sponsored that last ones I remember !

I think you will see Rapha being a major sponsor in the future.
Its all good stuff if we get to see more cycling on our streets.

My MTB club marshalled one in Blackburn a few weeks ago, it was exciting to watch but no public turned up because the organisers didn't publicise it!

They should add a messenger race to it like at the crits in Harlem earlier this year.

And a folding bike race like at the Smithfield Nocturne.

With the interest given to the sport from the Olympics, the general public may be tempted to come and watch if there are a couple of well known names on the start sheet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
