This morning I rode my first ever 50 miler in four hours eleven minutes and I am chuffed to bits with it as it was a pretty hilly route!! Unfortunately as well as being chuffed to bits...I am chafed to bits too!! I used sudocrem for the...how can I put this delicately...undercarriage, but it hasn't been particularly effective  So do I invest in some proper chamois cream and does anyone have any recommendations about which ones best suit a lady?? I will read any advice gratefully while sat on a bag of frozen peas!!!:shy:

Oh I had no end of undercarriage issues!
Here's what works for me....

Padded shorts, must be tight fitting (mine were too big) and decent quality
No underwear!
Morgan Blue chamois cream (every ride...whether it's 5 miles or 20)
Also, hygiene. I always have a wash before I ride.

Added to that what tissot has said...check your saddle - if you know what you have is good and suits you, then check the position (height, angle and fore/aft position)

That does it for me.... and congrats on your 50 miles!

Yes I have a recommendation. Please turn away if you ha e a sensitive stomach.

Raw chaffing- what I do is continue to ride keeping everything as dry as possible and when everything starts scabing after 2-3 days, rub it off with baby oil

Pretty sure you can find a better saddle though that will help

Why would you want to remove a scab? It's formed to protect and heal the skin...

Hmm the only things there is the chamois cream and possibly saddle. I have no issues till I hit about 30 miles or so. It is a womens specific saddle that came with the bike. Might try some decent chamois cream and if no better may start looking at saddles.
Scabbing?? Baby oil...how doea this help exactly? What about risk of infection?

The baby oil would help the scab slide off when rubbed.
I wouldn't recommend it and you're right to worry about infection (I'll take my nurse hat off now!)

I had a nice female specific saddle on my new bike but soon changed it!
Obviously it's a really personal choice, but I now use one of these saddles and it's good!

I use udder cream from wiggle and find it brill.

I was hoping more people would write about how wonderful sudocrem is, because I got my wife to buy some for me a few days ago.
Mind you, I don't have that many problems down there, as long as I wash before and after and ensure my shorts are padded and washed after every ride...
