Has anyone done this before??

CHSS

I was thinking of signing up for the 25 mile one with a view to seeing how I found that before saying that I will do Pedal for Scotland. However I am a bit worried that as the tow paths will not be that wide (I assume) I am going to end up getting held up by people, or having to stop to let faster people past etc. Also not sure if they sort anything out to get you and bike back to the start point.

I have sent away for the info pack, but thought someone on here might have some idea.

The Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland Canal Cycle Challenge

This traffic-free challenge is suitable for all ages and for all levels of cyclists. You will have time to take in the scenery on this picturesque route. Ideal for families, groups or individuals! 50 or 25 miles?
The 50 mile route takes you from Glasgow to Edinburgh, along the tow paths of the Forth & Clyde and then Union canals.
If you don’t want to cycle the full 50 miles, take the option of 25 miles! Cycle between Glasgow and Falkirk or Falkirk and Edinburgh for an easier challenge.

I enjoyed a cycle run along the canal from Bearsden to Kilsyth just recently. :smile:The surface is fine, but would not encourage the faster riders to let rip! I don't think you should worry about holding people back, it is a fun day, but you should perhaps be prepared to be held back by young families etc. If concerned you could ask the organisers how they intend to prevent chaos, perhaps a staggered start, grouping similar types of rider, or limiting number of entrants.
