Today I became one really happy bunny rabbit. After weeks/months of decision making and a further few weeks of waiting to be paid I went to my LBS and spent quite a few quid on some new stuff today.
I had been deciding which bike to buy for ages and ended up getting a 2010 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105 with ULTEGRA brakes identical to this one.

My wife then decided to let me go mad so I bought an Elite Turbo trainer, new shoes, pedals, and loads more.
Ended up a lot lighter in my wallet!

I was amazed when I picked the bike, the owner of the LBS puts me against a measuring gizmo and tells me that he now knows the length of seat tube, distance from bars to saddle etc etc which is perfect for myself.
So happy cant wait till Saturday when I collect it all, fingers crossed on the set up!

I will post some pictures when I get it

thanks maz, your not wrong about the weather, that was the excuse I used on the wife to get the turbo lol

I have to stay on her good side so that she will let me keep the bike in the house until I fix the heating in the garage, im not going on the turbo in the garage in this weather lol

get a cheapo rear tyre for the turbo, and don't ruin a decent tyre going nowhere…

Thanks mate for the advice but the elite turbo I got comes with a rubber little wheel to reduce tyre wear and also keep the noise down.

Im counting the days now!

Sounds good - getting the correct bike size is very important indeed. Experience is the key. How tall are you and what size frame did you go for? I've seen endless numbers of people buying one size too small for them since compact frames became popular.

I am 5'8" mate and got a 56" frame. It leaves me about 2" between the crotch and the top bar (non technical term used by me lol).

If Im honest then maybe I might have felt slightly more comfortable on a smaller frame (mentally) feeling that I could boss it about a bit more but thats what the computer said so Ill go with that. (never mind the fact that the guy has been trading over 30 years and really knows his stuff).

I have now had a change of plans anyway, the bike is done and ready to collect now with my 105 pedals and the measurements set for me. They have booked me in for a 30 minute slot tomorrow morning so I can set up my shoes and pedals on a trainer. I have also got rid of the standard tyres and changed them for Gatorskins which from what I have been told are meant to be pretty good in the winter.

So this time tomorrow ill have it but shame to say I will be in work until midnight so I won't get a chance to use it

Ill throw some pictures on her Saturday

well its here!! christmas day was yesterday for me!

I love it, unfortunately yesterday I had to work in the evening so I couldnt do anything with it. I got up this morning raring to go only to be told I was going out...all day....gutted

I came home about an hour ago, put the bike on the turbo and went for it, I lasted 30minutes before I was hanging out my hoop and had to call time.
As stated previously I want to use cycling for enjoyment but the main purpose is to loose weight, I know that I will achieve this with the synapse because I already love it.

Now I have it I have set up my polar cs200 which I have to say once I got my head around how to work it seems pretty good so far (early days yet). My new shimano shoes and 105 pedals are comfortable so I cant complain....well there is one thing.

How the hell can I make my arse hurt less? I am wearing padded shorts but my ass is in bulk!

The bike is faultless anyway so far, I just need to get the fatty riding it up to the job. Pics will follow tomorrow when I upload them
