Just read a very positive review in the latest Cycling Plus magazine.

But for only a 4 mile commute is it worth spending that much money? Are you buying just for the name or are you planning on longer weekend rides??

Hi thanks. I'm looking at taking my kids at on bike rides also now as there getting older. I like the look of the hoy rang of bikes but not sure if I'm just paying for the hoy name with it only having 8 gears also.

The three bikes in the range are all compact doubles 20 speed.

edit: Ok just checked Evans Bikes. You are talking about the flat bar hybrids right?
For a 4 mile commute they look ideal, even with 8 gears. They have pretty low gearing.

Chris Hoy is the latest well known cyclist to use his name on a bike and not the last I'll guess. They are mainly a marketing exercise, using a famous name to sell the merchandise. There are plenty of other names out there which will prove equally good. If you spend more than a few hundred quid you won't end up with a bad un.
