Choosing a new seat

i am looking to purchase a new seat

since i can't test them out before i purchase one how the heck do i know what to buy

any advice would be amazing

There must a few shops where you can try before you buy, we have one in east finchley, so i would imagine there must be more than 1 shop in the UK that does it. might be worth a few phone calls.

just some options to arm you for the ring around. Do NOT simply go for a gel seat as they may feel great for the first ride of a mile or 10 but much more and i reckon they just don't cut it.

Best bet is to go for a popular model eg Road= Fizik-Arione and get a second hand one to try.

after trying a few, did not get on with the Fizik Arone, but i know a few people who like them, you really need to find the one that suits you.

+1 for the Brooks, me and mine have been very happy for 20 years now. However, Selle Italia now do IDMatch. They also have a 30 day return policy. I took it as marketing flim flam, but we've not had a saddle returned since we offered the service. My colleagues had arrived at saddle choice by trial and error, when we measured them up the system confirmed what they had found through painful & pricey trial and error.

I got lucky with a second hand but in very good condition Selle Italia in the for sale section on here . Its like floating on air compared to my stock giant saddle although the previous owner didn't get on with it . Maybe his botty isn't as pert as mine ?
I can do about ten miles on it without thinking I should have worn the padded panties . I'm not sure if that's good or bad but that's the way it is .

well had a look at the selle Italia and the specialized saddle this morning and had an idea of what i wanted.


then

i saw a Fizik Aliante Vs saddle in yellow that was the right size.... in the sale £30 bargain
