I'm new to the road bike game so please bare with me,two nights ago I bought some winter riding gear from "China" bib tights and a long sleeved top! Did I do good? Or will I be disappointed when they arrive?

Riding gear can be bloody expensive and for a recreational user I cannot justify the spend.

I did however pop in to my local "aldi" they do the odd cycling but but nothing in the basket in (L) shame really.

So I tried the local sports shop too (the one mike Ashley owns) to say the shop was full of shoot was an understatement, the cycling part was one shelf! All of which were shitty colours and all made in China anyway!!

I digress sorry, my question are the things from china going to be ok for a part timer like myself?

Cheers all safe and happy riding.

There are plenty of UK based online retailers that have keenly priced kit. DHB at Wiggle for instance.
No need to buy from China. Just hope it fits you otherwise you are in for a big faff if not.

What the blue fella said. DHB is excellent quality. Uncle Mike peddles tat and is to be avoided.

Edinburgh Bicycle often have sales on clothing too.

Almost all my stuff is DHB (from Wiggle) or Tenn (via Amazon usually is cheaper). The Tenn stuff is cheaper but is still good stuff if a little less quality, I find their sizes are a little looser too, ideal for me!

The good thing with Wiggle is if it's the wrong size, just stick it in an envelope and take to a Collect+ store (small Asda do it here) and you can return it for absolutely free.

Yep, I love Collect+. Just to warn though, I was recently going to purchase some cycling clothing from Tredz until I found out that you have to pay for a return slip, even if returning via Collect+.

Obviously didn't use them after that!

I have never bought cycling clothes from china, but have bought mountain walking clothes from there, never had any complaints with what I received, I recently bought some trousers which would have cost me £55 here, Only £16 from China plus £3.95 P&P.

It always amuses me that here in the UK, and Europe, where obesity is a real problem, finding very large sports wear, not only cycling kit, can be a problem. We have to get our big kit from China where obesity is nowhere as near a problem for them but they have seen the gap in the market. I sometimes wonder if clothing manufacturers and retailers ever actually stand outside for half an hour and just watch people going past. I have been trying to get a 52" blazer for Remembrance Day. Such a thing is unobtainable round here where they all seem to stop at 48" forcing me into mail order with all the uncertanties around sizing.

I find cycling gear that fits my meaty and manly 56" chest(big lats) in 2XL or 3XL without much bother, though arms can sometimes be tight. XL.shorts and tights are easy to find.

Well cut suit jackets can be a problem though.

I have bought replica kit from China. Seems ok but I only did it for a design I could not get legit over here. Sizes tend to come up small from the couple of orders I made

+1 for DHB
