I must of missed this thread before, I was originally down to ride the Harp one tomorrow, Hemel Hempstead on 7th Feb and the Luton one on the 3rd March. Unfortunately I can no longer ride the Harp one tomorrow due to moving house next week, but hoping to get an hr or 2 in early morning.

Just got back from the Harp Hilly 100, nice route and the weather was pretty reasonable too.

I'll probably ride the Hemel one next week, unless I volunteer to help with the registration- not sure yet.

It was pretty wet when i rode the Harp one last year, riding to and from the event HQ from Aylesbury. The route follows roads I know extremely well, covered 114 miles that day on my fixed bike.

The Hemel ride is a week Sunday, hopefully I'll be settled into a room by then and able to ride, although following the recent weather my fitness level isn't great at the moment.

The Hemel event is a week on Sunday! I somehow convinced myself it was next weekend.

You did the hilly on fixed and rode to the start from Aylesbury in crappy weather? good work!

Don't fancy Bison Hill on fixed. I think i'd be able to get up the other hills OK, except perhaps that short sharp one up Darrs lane towards the end.

I ride 48*19 66 inches but i'm quite small and light. There's a couple of hills in the Chilterns I struggle on, Hale Lane and Kingston Blount. I regularly ride either Bison Hill, Ivanghoe Beacon or the Dunstable Downs on one of my regular Saturday morning rides.

The Hemel Hempstead Hilly time trial used to go up Bison Hill twice, it was one of my favourite events of the season.

I trained on fixed in my racing days over 20 years ago and bought the Pearson Touche mainly as a commuter but 18 months later it is still my sole bike. Currently looking at getting a Thorn Sherpa for a 6 month tour that I'm about to start planning either late June or July this year, riding the Manali to Leh highway then Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

I'm pretty light but my fixed bike isn't so light and I use a slightly bigger gear- about 70".

Didn't know the Hemel Hilly used to go up Bison Hill, wonder why the route was changed? the current hilly course isn't all that hilly.

No idea on that one I only returned to cycling 18 months ago after nearly 20 years off mainly due back problems.

I'm fulfilling a long held ambition, split from the wife a couple of years ago so taking advantage of the situation whilst i'm fit enough.
